Dr. Dre & Ice Cube Cleared From Wrongful Death Lawsuit Involving Suge Knight

Dr. Dre and Ice Cube will not be charged in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of actor Terry Carter, who was killed on the set of a promotional shoot for Straight Out of Compton last year.

Carter was killed when Suge Knight allegedly ran him over with his vehicle while fleeing a conflict that arose at Tam’s Burgers in Compton, California, during the filming of a promotional video for the N.W.A biopic. Dr. Dre and Ice Cube were named in Carter’s family’s wrongful death lawsuit along with Knight, but now TMZreports that on Friday (Oct. 7) a judge ruled that the two be removed. Knight is currently in jail awaiting trial on murder charges.

Dr. Dre and Ice Cube had originally been accused of negligence for allegedly hiring gang members to act as security on the set. The suit also stated that two of those gang members they hired — including Cle “Bone” Sloane, who was seriously injured by Knight’s hit-and-run — were responsible for the incident that led to Knight fleeing the scene and Carver’s death.
