DJ Khaled Shows Off New Son, Talks ‘The Keys’ Book on ‘The View

DJ Khaled has been on a long winning streak in 2016. After earning his first Billboard 200 chart-topping album with Major Key, he welcomed his first son Asahd Khaled in October, and recently clinched a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album. On Wednesday (Dec. 7), Khaled visited ABC’s The View to reflect on his accolades and speak on his New York Times best-selling book The Keys.

Prior to the interview, Khaled walked out with his baby boy, and showed him off to the hosts and studio audience. He then quickly delved into his booming success on Snapchat and why he decided to join the popular app.

“The Snapchat connected me with my fans because a lot of people knew me for No. 1 records, and they’ve seen me in the videos with a bunch of chains, but they didn’t really get to know me [and] who I am as a person,” explained the DJ/producer.

During his interview, he also spoke on his adoration for Beyonce, and what touring life was like when he joined her on the Formation trek earlier this year. “I’m starstruck and shy,” said Khaled about being around Queen Bey. “That’s Beyonce. And I got a chance to tour with her and open up for her show in sold-out stadiums. When I’m on stage, I’m not shy at all.”

Khaled then touched on his new book The Keys and spoke candidly about his journey in the music industry. “Well, the book is basically my journey, my perspective of me climbing the mountaintop of what I’ve been going through in my life, and the real keys to me. But at the same time, I want to inspire the world, and let them know that I never gave up.”

The keymaster also reminisced about the time he met President Obama back in April.
