Bobby Brown, BLACKstreet, Guy and Total will be hitting the Orleans Arena stage to perform when the 2016 Soul Train Awards tapes in Las Vegas this weekend (Nov. 6). They, along with Doug E. Fresh, Wreckx-N-Effect and Carl Thomas, join a previously announced talent lineup that includes rising newcomers Yuna, Candice Boyd and Major.
Also announced today (Nov. 3) as presenters are cast members from BET’s forthcoming biopic The New Edition Story: Bryshere Y. Gray, Elijah Kelley and Keith Powers. They further round out a presenter slate that features Jill Scott, India.Arieand Eric Benét. This year’s special honorees are Grammy winners Teddy Riley(Legend Award) and Brandy (Lady of Soul Award). Returning as host is Erykah Badu.
Drake and Beyoncé lead this year’s nominations slate, with 12 and eight nods, respectively. Additional multiple nominees include Chance the Rapper, Anderson .Paak and Bryson Tiller.
The awards show is the culmination of the Soul Train Weekend, which kicks off today at the neighboring Mandalay Bay. Among the daily activities will be concerts featuring Scott, Monica, Anthony Hamilton, Tyrese, Jazmine Sullivan and Bell Biv DeVoe plus a comedy set starring Cedric “The Entertainer” and D.L. Hughley, among others.
The 2016 Soul Train Awards will premiere on Centric and BET on Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
