Meek Mill released his mixtape DC4 last week, a quick diversion from the drama that surrounded him within the past few months. Following the release of his comeback mixtape, the Philly rhymer rode around in a Rolls-Royce Wraith for a lengthy interview with the Tax Seasonpodcast on why he deactivated his Instagram, his dispute with Drake and of course his lady, Nicki Minaj.
Social media has become the common denominator in majority of the rap feuds that have occurred and Meek Mill’s history of beefs further prove that claim. The rapper deactivated his account earlier in October with no explanation, which opened up the opportunity for theories to emerge but his hiatus from the social platform was nothing more than him removing himself from the “circus.” “Since all that funny shit been going on the Internet, you know we call this the circus,” he offers. “And I stepped out the circus, period.” He continues to say that when he does reactivate his account, it’s purpose will be to “motivate” the younger generation. “It don’t make our life.”
Further in the interview, Meek Mill discusses the premise of his beef with Drake, which was ignited by internet users. “They was tryna crucify me on the Internet,” he recalls. “He was on my shit [‘R.I.C.O’ from Dreams Worth More Than Money — which hit No. 1 on Billboard 200], I really pressed for that verse.” Meek later mentions that he arranged a show in Philly where Drake was supposed to attend but the Toronto native failed to show up or notify Meek. “If you handle me different with no regard, I don’t really show no regard. It ain’t really no price for me to pay.”
Aside from his spat with Drake, Meek Mill revealed that he “don’t talk to Sean Kingston on the phone nor do I really talk to Sean Kingston.” Meek Mill, Sean Kingston and The Game exchanged words via social media which later led to diss tracks between Meek and Game. “I felt like that was premeditated, it happened in June,” Meek tells Taxtone. “We could’ve just pulled up and rapped like men.”
“In real life, I wake up Nicki Minaj is my woman,” he continues elsewhere in the podcast. Meek Mill opened up about Drake’s “Back to Back” saying that touring with his woman “isn’t a bad thing to me” expressing his confusion in the criticism he received over the lyric, “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?”
