Kings forward Matt Barnes allegedly choked a woman inside New York’s Avenue Nightclub early Monday.
The NYPD received a call after midnight about a man assaulting two women and a man.
Police sources said an argument between Barnes and an unnamed 26-year-old woman who was sitting at a table inside the club escalated and the NBA player allegedly put his hands around her neck. Barnes then threw punches at a man and woman trying to intervene before he fled the scene. Cops added they are unclear of what caused the incident.
This isn’t the first time Barnes is reported to have been in an altercation.
In 2015, Barnes got into a fight with former Knicks coach Derek Fisher because he was dating his estranged wife, Gloria Govan. Barnes learned of the relationship when one of his kids brought it up to him.
Barnes later said Fisher was “lucky” he was restrained during a brawl in Los Angeles last year with the ex-Knicks coach because “it would have been a lot worse.”
Before the reported altercation, Barnes was heckled by Knicks fans Sunday night who chanted “Derek Fisher” when the Kings lost to the Knicks 106-98.
