After getting her dance on alongside Trevor Jackson in the classy visual for her latest single “Dumb,” Kelly Rowland slows down the tempo in the teaser for a new release titled “Conceited.”
“I’m conceited, you know that I am baby,” she sings on the soulful love note. “And you understand that I need a man.”
Speaking to Billboard in September, Rowland admitted that motherhood and a heavy workload have kept her from completing her forthcoming album, the follow-up to 2013’s Talk a Good Game.
“I wanted to take that first year to just be a mother, but I wanted to put out music at the same time. I was fighting myself. So then here’s the second year, and I’ve been recording but I’ve always had some hiccups in between it with other projects that I’m doing,” she said.
In addition to shooting a movie, being a guest on Solange’s pristine A Seat at the Table Album, mentoring her Chasing Destiny-formed girl group June’s Diary and working on a book and make-up line, Rowland hopes the project will appear before year’s end. “I’m trying to close out the record by the end of this year,” the R&B star said. “I told myself to stop [doing other things] and just finish it.”
