If Alicia Keys‘ team on The Voice need any more examples of how it’s done they need look no further than “Blended Family (What You Do For Love),” the A$AP Rocky-blessed emotional first single from the singer’s just-announced new album. Keys’ follow-up to 2012’s Girl on Fire will drop on Nov. 4 and in an Instagram announcing her latest, AK said she’s psyched to share the new track with her fans.
“I’m so excited for you to hear this song,” she wrote of the track, which balances a cracking beat with a hooky acoustic guitar line and Keys’ signature piano work. “It means so much to me and our whole family. The understanding, compassion and support we’ve found is a powerful testament to the healing that comes when we choose love. Especially for the kids… the most important part of our lives.” In a magnanimous tip to husband Swizz Beatz’s ex, Keys gave R&B singer Mashonda a shout out as well, saying “I’m beyond proud of the work that the three of us most consciously applied to bettering ourselves for each other and our children’s sake.”
