Popular TV Star, JoMarie Payton to Receive Trailblazer Award at Women of True Grit Awards Gala

Nashville Women in Film & Television has announced that JoMarie Payton, who starred in the popular sitcom, Family Matters, will be honored at the inaugural Women of True Grit Awards.  The Awards Gala will be the highlight of the upcoming Southern Women In Film & Television (SWIFT) Summit to will be held at the Hotel Preston in Nashville,  Tennessee,  March 22-25, 2018.

JoMarie Payton is an accomplished actress and singer, best known for her portrayal of “Harriet Winslow” in the show Perfect Strangers and its spin-off hit, Family Matters. She is being honored for her work as a human rights activist and her commitment to education.  In honor of her mother, she started the Frankie Payton Scholarship Fund at Albany State College, and has created an endowment to award an annual performing arts scholarship via the HAL Awards Scholarship Foundation in Los Angeles.

The Women of True Grit Awards, scheduled for Saturday March 24th at 7pm, honor women who have conquered adversity to achieve success in the world of entertainment. Other honorees include actress, Jennifer O’Neill, Saturday Night Live alumna, Victoria Jackson and Paramount Pictures’ Summer Helene.

The Summit, a four-day entertainment conference will feature lectures, panel discussions, screenings and one-on-one sessions with industry professionals.
