One Dead, Nine Injured In Shooting On New Orleans’ Bourbon Street

According to reports, two male tourists began arguing with each other in the wildly popular Louisiana area around 1:30 a.m., and shots were fired.

Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said that none of the people injured by gunfire were intended targets, and that the suspects fled the scene. The age ranges of the victims injured are between 20 and 37, and the victim killed has been identified as 25-year-old tattoo artist Demontris Toliver from Baton Rouge, La.

“We’re going to pursue these individuals very, very aggressively,” New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said. “Totally unacceptable. The violence continues to spin out of control with people brandishing weapons whenever they think they can. It’s really unfortunate.”

About a year ago, a shooting stemming from an argument occurred on Bourbon Street where one man was killed, and in 2014, 10 people were injured and a woman was killed in a shooting in the same location.
