MARY J. BLIGE SET TO PLAY HITWOMAN IN NETFLIX SERIES ‘THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY’

Two-time Oscar-nominated singer Mary J. Blige is making her back way to Netflix for the upcoming show The Umbrella Academy. The show is based on a comic book series by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance.

In her next acting role, Blige will play Cha-Cha, a psychotic and merciless hitwoman that in order to kill her marks, she time travels. The Umbrella Academy tracks the lives of a dysfunctional superhero family who reunite to solve the mystery of who killed their father. The siblings all have different abilities and conflicting personalities which will make uncovering their father’s murderer difficult.

The Grammy-Award winning singer will be a series regular with a one-year contract. She has been on shows like Empire and Black-ish however, this is her longest series commitment. Alongside Cha-Cha is her partner in crime, Hazel, however the person playing that role has yet to be announced.

Mary will play alongside Tom HopperDavid CastanedaEllen PageAidan GallagherRobert Sheehan, and Emmy Raver-Lampman.
