Bardi Gang members are rejoicing everywhere after the 2018 Grammy Awards nominations were revealed this morning. Cardi B is up for two awards at the ceremony, vying with rap heavyweights like JAY-Z and Kendrick Lamar for the gold.
Cardi’s chart-topping track “Bodak Yellow” has been nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Hov and K.Dot are among the other competitors for both awards, with Rapsody, Danger Mouse, Run the Jewels and Big Boi closing out the song category. The Bronx native is against her fiancé in the Rap Performance category, as Migos and Big Sean are also nominated for their singles “Bad and Boujee” and “Bounce Back,” respectively.
The “MotorSport” spitter is having her best year in hip-hop yet since debuting music in 2015. Not only was “Bodak Yellow” certified triple-platinum last week, but it is officially the longest running No. 1 from a solo female rapper in Hot 100 history, surpassing Lauryn Hill’s 1998 classic “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
JAY-Z leads the 2018 Grammy Awards with eight nominations, including Album of the Year, with Kendrick following up with seven of his own. View the complete list of nominees for each category here.
