ALICIA KEYS CELEBRATES HER ‘BLENDED FAMILY’ IN NEW VIDEO

Nestled in Alicia Keys’ 16-track studio effort Here was the candid standout track “Blended Family (What You Do For Love)” featuring A$AP Rocky, where Keys’ paid tribute to her own family and celebrated unity and love despite past complications. On Nov. 11th, Alicia Keys dropped the visual accompaniment to emotional track and follows eight “blended” families as they navigate through the world.

The black-and-white visual shows Alicia Keys and her family bonding over games, later expanding to show the diversity within modern families from race and culture to gender. “My new song ‘Blended Family (What You Do For Love)’ is inspired by my family’s personal journey to cultivate deeper understanding, compassion, support and love. Something to me that I hope we all together in this world remember right now,” the singer said in a press release. “To me, the word ‘family’ has no singular definition and the modern family is made up of all kinds of beautiful people of different walks of life willing to put love first.”

Elsewhere in the video, A$AP Rocky joins in and raps that “love could bring us closer than blood” as he kisses his mother and sisters.

The themes of love, unity and family are the driving force behind Keys’ album Here and unpacked the album’s message in her 23-minute short film The Gospel. In the film, the “In Common” singer journeys back to her stomping grounds in New York where she reminisces on her childhood and growing up in the concrete jungle.

Alicia Keys is also set to perform on The Voice on Tues. Nov 15 in support of her newest offering.
