Akon has reportedly announced plans to launch a new cryptopcurrency, Akoin, together with a “real-life Wakanda-like city”.
According to BBC, the Lonely hitmaker said this on Monday at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The project is the foundation of the AKoin Ecosystem, which “unlocks the potential of the world’s largest emerging economy through the creation of a stable currency and innovative, revenue-generating opportunities that stimulate and support youth entrepreneurship, economic stability, and growth across Africa and the world”, said the AKoin website.
Akon’s vision for the new project spans much larger than just a virtual cryptocurrency – he is also aiming to build his own city, Akon Crypto City, near Dakar in Senegal, the website said.
