DIDDY LAUNCHES SCHOLARSHIP FUND AT HOWARD UNIVERSITY WITH $1 MILLION DONATION

During his Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour stop in the nation’s capital, the New Yorker donated $1 million to fund a new scholarship initiative in his name.

“One of the biggest blessings is getting the chance to one day be able to give back,” the Bad Boy head honcho said to a packed Verizon Center crowd. “And to support the people that supported you…I didn’t graduate from Howard. I was blessed to get my honorary degree, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Because the only reason why I was able to chase my dreams was the empowerment that Howard gave me, the support that they gave me, the first two years.”

The check was given to the university’s President Dr. Wayne Frederick, who also bestowed Diddy with that honorary degree in humanities in 2014. “Howard University didn’t just change my life — it entered my soul, my heart, my being and my spirit,” Diddy said during that pivotal time period. “Nobody is going to invite you to the front of the line, you got to push your way to the front of the line.”

The requirements so far include a 3.0 GPA, a pursuit of a business degree, and immediate need of financial aid. Recipients will also get a chance to intern with Diddy’s Bad Boy and Revolt companies, and receive a mentor from his Combs Enterprises. WUSA 9 reports the process of awarding certain students will begin next fall semester.
