A Rachel Dolezal Documentary Is Coming To Netflix

Rachel Dolezal, the ever perplexing media darling of 2015, cross checked her racial opponents into a state of bewilderment.

Let’s get into it: she was a white passing, transracial woman, showing signs of body dysmorphia, who went to great lengths to embody her spirit through the physical manifestation of her ideals. Not to mention, her participation in the political and social advancement of African Americans and their “racial reconstruction,” led her to down the path of African Studies at the academic level. She also kinked her hair and began collecting African idols and art. That about sums it up.. in short.

Well, filmmaker Laura Brownson has decided to expand upon my introductory paragraph. She has reconstructed the full story in a documentary wittily titled The Rachel Divide. In conversation with Vulture, she explained what compelled her to start the project:

“In making the film, I came to a deeper understanding of the raw nerve that Rachel hits in our society, but I also learned that her motivations to identify as she does are far more complicated than most realize,.”
