Kanye, Solange Sued for Copyright Infringement

Kanye West and Solange are both being sued for copyright infringement, TMZ reports. The plaintiff, Leroy Mitchell—professionally known as Prince Phillip Mitchell—claims that both artists infringed on his song “If We Can’t Be Lovers” with their songs “Everything I Am” and “Fuck the Industry,” respectively. He is seeking punitive damages in the legal case. It’s worth noting that Mitchell is already listed as a co-writer on both tracks, according to BMI and Tidal’s album credits. Pitchfork has reached out to Mitchell’s lawyers for further comment.
